Commercial EV Charger Cost Calculator
Build an indicative UK project budget using charger type, quantity, cable route, groundworks and electrical requirements. The result is a planning range — not a quotation.
Methodology
What the calculator includes
The model uses broad 2026 UK market ranges and separates the parts of a project that scale with charging sockets from shared site-level costs. It is intended to give a defensible early budget, not false precision.
- Base installed socket: charger hardware, standard protection/commissioning and a straightforward local installation. AC assumptions are anchored around published 2026 installed commercial ranges; DC ranges are intentionally wider.
- Scale: multi-socket AC projects receive a modest unit-cost adjustment because distribution, labour and commissioning can be shared. The model does not assume unrealistic linear savings.
- Civils: cable distance scales per socket, while trenching/reinstatement combines shared and per-bay allowances.
- Electrical capacity: unconfirmed or upgraded supply is a project-level planning allowance. An actual DNO/connection offer can sit outside the range.
- VAT: all headline planning assumptions are ex VAT; the result separately shows 20% VAT and the gross total.
- Grants: WCS calculations use up to 75% of estimated gross eligible cost, capped at £500 per socket; the state-funded education version uses £2,000 per socket. Both are capped at 40 sockets and currently run to 31 March 2027.
Grant rules: OZEV / GOV.UK 2026 grant changes and Workplace Charging Scheme guidance. Network context: GOV.UK connection guidance. Market ranges were cross-checked against current UK commercial installation guides, including MyBuilder’s 2026 commercial installation cost guide and Evova’s July 2026 commercial cost guide.
Important: Grant eligibility, values and deadlines can change. A charger/site may also have costs that are not eligible for grant support. Check the current GOV.UK guidance and obtain a site-specific quotation before committing budget.
